Developing Expertise in Oracy in Science

This half-day, face-to-face course will enable subject leaders and teachers to explore a range of oracy activities that engage children in deeper thinking and purposeful talk about their science learning, and support them to produce high quality writing.

Participants will be able to:

• use a range of strategies to teach scientific vocabulary
• use a range of strategies for supporting children to explain scientific concepts clearly using the correct vocabulary
• support children to produce high quality science writing
• embed thinking and talking activities in their planning.
