This support add-on will provide you with a bespoke review of phonics & early literacy to help you ensure that the teaching of early reading is of the highest quality. The consultant was highly experienced and knowledgeable in phonics and early reading development. During the reviews at our schools within the NET Academies Trust, she raised pertinent points of action to our leaders to further improve early reading development. For us, it's not just the validation, it’s also having the reassurance and the confirmation that what we’re doing is working and having the right impact.

How it works:

The new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) places greater focus on the consistency and quality of the teaching of phonics & early reading, the accompanying resources used in school, the joy of reading and the promotion of children’s vocabulary.

The review will be conducted by our consultants who are highly experienced in the areas of phonics and early literacy. Based on a one form entry school, it is likely to take two days in total, consisting of:

  • one half day preparation
  • one day in school
  • one half day report writing

We can also offer a one-day review where appropriate, which will focus on in-school practice in the EYFS & KS1, provide you with ongoing verbal feedback and a brief record of visit. For larger schools, the number of days will be between two and three days, depending on the number of EYFS and KS1 classes.
