Developing Expertise in Science in the EYFS

This half-day, face-to-face course will enable science subject leaders and EYFS practitioners to explore together the foundational knowledge of science contained in the ‘Understanding the world’ area of the EYFS Statutory Framework and Development Matters.

Science subject leaders will:

• develop a shared understanding of good practice in the inclusion of science learning in the EYFS
• understand the progression of the foundational knowledge of science in the EYFS and how this links to learning in Key Stage 1 and beyond
• explore how resources can support the inclusion of the foundational knowledge of science in the EYFS.
