We are delighted to offer, by arrangement, bespoke Theology CPD for primary and secondary schools respectively.
Designed as an introduction to the main tenets of Christianty, this 2 hour session is ideal for Collective Worship leaders across all key stages, and for primary RE leaders and teachers who want to feel secure in their understanding of Christianity.
The CofE collective worship guidance document says that collective worship should ‘help pupils and adults to appreciate the relevance of faith in today’s world by encountering the teachings of Jesus and the Bible and developing understanding of the Christian belief in the trinitarian nature of God and its language.’
The RE Statement of Entitlement for church schools says that children should ‘know about and understand Christianity as a diverse global living faith through the exploration of core beliefs using an approach that critically engages with biblical text.‘
Reference is made to the SIAMS schedule, Church of England collective worship guidance, the Statement of Entitlement for RE and the LDBS primary RE syllabus. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the teachings of Christianity and the course can be made bespoke to answer any questions that your staff have.
The course will focus on:
- The nature of God, Father and Creator, Son (including Jesus’ death and resurrection) and Holy Spirit (including Pentecost)
- Understanding the Trinity and explaining it to children
- The Bible, what is it? How was it written and how Christians read and use it. Using the Bible to teach theological concepts, with a focus on prayer and baptism.
